Foods for a Healthy Brain

Even so far back as an ancient Greek principle both for citizens and also for those Olympic Athletes who participated in the ancient Olympic Games, we also know that a healthy brain is synonymous with a healthy body. In a world full to the brim with E-numbers and artificial flavorings, it can be very difficult to stick to foods that are perfectly natural. But putting in some effort (even if just for a couple of weeks at a time) to stick to organic vegetables, water, and white meat, can provide us a brilliant escape from the mind-clogging, fatigue-inducing state that so many of us are used to being in.

 

Brain Foods

While we can stick to a super-healthy body and improve all internal systems at once as our bodies slowly detox and repair, it can be much more efficient in the short-term to increase the amount of ‘brain foods’ we shovel in throughout the course of the day. For an increased short-term memory, better concentration and faster learning, you can try adding a few of these brain boosting foods to your snacking arsenal. Blueberries, avocados, broccoli and dark chocolate (70% cocoa) are all known to boost brain power and regulate cortisol levels for better stress.

 

Regular Exercise

Now, I’m not going to tell you to work in a full workout plan, (although you will do this on your own over time,) but getting in thirty minutes of cardiovascular exercise such as walking, jogging, swimming or biking can be as potent for a healthy mind as it is for a healthy body. Burning calories and focusing on something that doesn’t involve sitting down each day improves many of the various systems in the body, and it actively increases your endorphins. Endorphins are basically your bodies built in happy pills, and come with no side-effects or jail sentences!

 

If you actively practice the three tips above, you’ll soon be a thinking machine, with an unlimited supply of energy and happiness. And trust me, once you get started, even half-heartedly, the ball will start rolling and you’ll soon be fully committed. The thing is, this stuff feels great, and once you start working it into your life, the benefits are too great to ignore. Your mind and body are wholly connected, and you can’t have one working at full steam without the other, so the absolute best way to improve either system, is by improving the other. Honestly guys, it’s that simple! Eat clean, exercise, and add in some ‘brain foods’ for an instant boost in concentration, memory, and anti-grogginess.

    These are all good points.There’s no denying that as we age chronologically, our body ages right along with us.
